Why is Ray J not allowed to see his kids? Rapper talks about a "lonely Christmas" and how he is "learning the hard way" in his holiday post

Singer Ray J is reportedly spending Christmas alone after a Los Angeles judge extended his domestic violence no-contact restraining order following the rapper's arrest for a domestic dispute with his estranged wife, Princess Love. For those uninitiated, authorities visited Ray's home in Porter Ranch, Los Angeles, after receiving a call about an "assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence" on November 27, 2025.

He was charged with six misdemeanor offenses, including "brandishing a firearm, use of force, and child endangerment," and was released on a $50,000 bond later that day.

During a hearing on December 19, 2025, a judge extended his no-contact restraining order, which prevented him from spending time with his children through the Christmas holidays and his son's upcoming birthday. Ray shares two children with Princless Love, daughter Melody and son Epik. According to The Shade Room, he told a reporter that he would miss his kids on Christmas following the ruling, saying:

“Man I don’t even want to talk about it. I’m missing my kids. I’m missing Christmas, my son birthday.”

On Christmas morning, the singer took to his Instagram to post a close-up picture of a Christmas tree. In the caption, he wrote about his "lonely Christmas," adding that he was learning his lesson "the hard way."

"A lonely Christmas. No kids, no presents, no little feet running around - just a tree and the weight of missing what matters most. I’m learning the hard way. I understand that not every lesson comes gently. Life teaches in many ways. I’m listening," he posted.

Exploring the domestic dispute between Ray J and Princess Love

Ray J reportedly livestreamed the domestic dispute with Princess Love on November 27, 2025, resulting in his permanent ban from the livestreaming platform Twitch. According to E! Online, Ray J and Princess Love, who was seen holding their daughter, seemed to be arguing with each other when Ray allegedly brandished a gun at her.

Ray J's anger seemingly stemmed from Princess trying to take his kids from his room. However, Love is heard telling Ray that she woke up their daughter because she wanted to have a good Thanksgiving. Furthermore, Princess Love can be heard telling Ray that she was going to call the police, to which the singer replied, "I'll shoot the f**king police."

The police were called to the residence at around 4 am and arrested Ray J. Following his release, the singer once again took to social media to explain his side of the story, claiming that Princess Love and her companions were drunk when they attempted to take his kids from his home. He further alleged that the man accompanying Princess tried to "snatch" his kids from his bedroom, saying:

"We grownups. If you want to leave, leave. The kids is upstairs sleeping on my bed. You wanna go upstairs and take the kids, wake 'em up into this grown-up argument which should never happen. Instead of letting them sleep, you wanna snatch her and take her with you...Then you gotta do come in my bedroom, where my kids sleep, and they're trying to get in my bed and take my kids cause all of y'all are drunk."

Meanwhile, Princess Love also addressed the incident in a separate social media video. She alleged that while she wanted her children to spend Thanksgiving with Ray J, she wanted to supervise the visit as the kids, aged seven and five, had found their father naked with another woman in his bedroom in the past.

In the video posted on November 27, Princess Love alleged that Ray J had pointed a gun at her and her cousin. She added that she would never put her kids in danger, and that included “leaving them with a man who’s waving a gun around.” Princess adviced Ray to check himself into rehab, saying:

“Check yourself into rehab, because you’re more than drunk. You’re not about to sit here and make me look crazy when I am the best mother since the day my kids been born. Everything I do, I do for my kids, including being around you when I don’t want to or have to.” Princess said.

Princess Love has reportedly filed for divorce from Ray J four times since their marriage in 2016, with the latest being in 2024.
