Why is Joey Swoll being accused of transphobia? Controversy explored

Fitness influencer Joey Swoll is being accused of transphobia and misgendering a transgender person while discussing the latter's alleged actions at a gym. On December 17, 2025, Joey Swoll posted a one-minute-eight-second video on X about a transgender person allegedly filming adult content in a women's locker room at a gym.

Providing context about the individual's alleged actions, the bodybuilder stated:

"This is one of the most disgusting things that I've ever been sent. This transwoman is in the women's locker room, filming corn with a P, playing with herself, grabbing her 'bulge,' which, of course, I had to cover up. As well as filming OF content out on the gym floor. I mean, how hard is it to just go to the gym, work out, be respectful, and not do anything lewd or vulgar like this? You do know that there are minors that go to gym, too, and use that same locker room? Anyways, I went to her page, as you can see here, did a quick search, and found that she trains at a gym called GoodLife Fitness in Canada."

Four days later, on December 21, 2025, Joey Swoll shared an update about the situation, and in an X post, he wrote:

"UPDATE* He is banned from all gyms! 🫡"

The 39-year-old's social media post resulted in netizens accusing him of transphobia.

"Not defending Victoria doing this kind of content in a gym, but like... there was no f**king need to misgender her and be transphobic towards her on here." X user @TheDJ_King stated. "Gendered her correctly in his first vid and then does the transphobic grift 4 days late. C1s women do this literally all the time, and why are you on her only f*ns lol" X user @bottleneckloser remarked. "Make no mistake that this is blatant transphobia. Joey is purposely misgendering and leading a witch hunt against a trans woman because it’s making him culturally relevant again." X user @4STR3LL4 commented. "Hundreds of people do s**t like this. Yet Joey you specifically target a trans woman and misgender her in the process. I’ve really seen in real time Joey devolved from a positive icon of male masculinity into just another asshole." X user @tammywitdabammy wrote.

Joey Swoll's update video about the transgender person's alleged actions in the gym explored

Joey Swoll claimed in his December 21, 2025, X post that the transgender person whose alleged actions he described in a gym's women's locker room had been banned from the facility.

He elaborated:

"Just a quick update to this video from the other day, where this person is filming corn with a P, in the women's locker room, playing with themselves, grabbing their 'bulge,' as well as filming OF content out on the gym floor. I followed up with this gym, GoodLife Fitness in Canada, they, because of legal reasons, couldn't tell me exactly what they did to this member, which I understand. But they pretty much spelled it out that when you do something like this, you get banned from all gyms. I also talked to somebody that works there, that I'll keep anonymous, that confirmed with me that this person has been banned. So, thank you, GoodLife Fitness, for doing what's right to protect your members."

Joey Swoll went on to say that people should report those who film "this type of content" in shared public spaces:

"This type of content has no place in gyms or any shared public space. So, if you see this, report it! Tell the staff or management, or just send it to me, I will happily call their a** out and get them banned from every gym. Have a great week, everybody."
