It is safe to say that GTA 6 looks vastly better than GTA 5. Both its trailers and screenshots look stunning, further hyping up the massive fanbase patiently waiting for the game to drop on November 19, 2026. Many players would love to take their first in-game screenshots when it drops.

Hence, GTA 6's photo mode should be a lot better than previous installments, especially GTA 5.

Reasons why GTA 6 should have a more detailed photo mode than GTA 5

GTA 5 only had a realistic snapmatic photo app

GTA 5 was a revolutionary title since it introduced a new, realistic way to take pictures within the game. Rockstar Games developed an in-game camera app called Snapmatic. Players can open the app on the characters' phones and take selfies from the front-facing camera or normal pictures from the back cameras.

Apart from this, however, there was no dedicated photo mode that added in-depth features like moving the camera, changing weather, time of day, character position, detailed photography settings, etc.

Though GTA 5 offered Rockstar Editor and Director Mode, these were hidden behind settings and were aimed towards power users and content creators who wanted to create videos.

Hence, GTA 6 should have an in-game app like Snapmatic, but should also have a dedicated photo mode, through which players can take carefully but easily crafted masterpieces.

Most AAA titles have a lot more detailed photo mode

Having a detailed photo mode in games might not have been too important back in 2013, but it has almost become a necessity in recent times. Almost every single AAA title, be it single-player or multiplayer, has a photo mode, some more detailed than others.

Even Rockstar's own title, Red Dead Redemption 2, which was released in 2018, had a much better photo mode than GTA 5. Hence, there is hope that GTA 6 might also get a similar kind of photo mode.

Of course, Rockstar's upcoming game will surely be one of the most popular titles in gaming history, whether it has a photo mode or not. However, it will definitely be a neat addition, especially if it is detailed and customizable.
