The New York Giants went defense with the No. 5 overall pick, and it's Ohio State's Arvell Reese.
Reese is one of the most dynamic players in the draft. The 6-foot-4 pass rusher tallied 6.5 sacks in 2025, but Reese also has the ability to be a traditional linebacker.
New York could've gone offense with this selection to help out quarterback Jaxson Dart, but they opted to go defense with Reese. Let's take a look at why.
New York needs some help on defense.
The team moved on from linebacker Bobby Okereke this offseason, and also traded defensive tackle Dexter Laerence to the Cincinnati Bengals last week.
Reese will step in as an immediate starter for the Giants, no matter his position, and should provide a boost to New York's pass rush.
