The San Francisco Giants are going to be trade deadline sellers this season, and it would be little surprise if Luis Arraez and Robbie Ray were dealt.
Both are free agents after 2026, so it's now or never for the Giants to get something in return for them. However, that's not the case with Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, and Rafael Devers, three expensive veterans the Giants would like to trade.
ESPN's Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan shared trade odds for all the top candidates this season, and while Chapman came in with a 25% chance of being dealt, his odds to be shipped off are much higher than Devers or Adames for a simple reason: his glove.
Why Giants have a real chance to trade Chapman, not Devers or Adames
"Nobody is taking Rafael Devers unless San Francisco pays down significantly the $211 million he is owed after this season or takes on bad contracts," Passan and McDaniel write. "The same goes for Willy Adames, whose defense has gone in the wrong direction. Chapman's glove salvages his value and puts him at least in play."
The Giants are more likely to trade Chapman than either Adames or Devers, and it's thanks in large part to the difference in defensive ability.
All three have brutal contracts, with Devers still with $211 million left on his deal after this season, Adames in just year-two of a seven-year, $182 million deal, and Chapman under contract through 2030 on a six-year, $151 million deal.

While Adames is only 30 years old and Devers is just 29, Chapman, at 33 years old, is the much more appealing trade target.
He's a little bit cheaper, under control for less time, and more importantly, a much better defender than the other two infielders. Chapman still plays elite defense at third base, and along with not-terrible offense, he's a bit more palatable for teams to acquire.
He's currently on the injured list, and his 97 OPS+ leaves a lot to be desired, so his "Chance of being traded," according to Passan and McDaniel, is just at 25%.
But, still, compared to Devers and Adames, Chapman is much more likely to be on the move this summer. Between the contract cost, length, and his defensive ability, Chapman is more likely to be traded than the other Giants' expensive veterans they'd like to deal.
