Why Flavor Flav is hosting his own Olympic celebration for all American female medalists

The 2026 Winter Olympics might be over, but the celebrations are just getting started. For the U.S. Women's hockey team, which won gold with a 2-1 overtime victory over Canada last week, that includes ones with Flavor Flav.

The team was invited to celebrate with the rapper and television personality a few days after securing the gold.

Here's everything you need to know about the hockey celebration with none other than Flavor Flav himself.

Why Flavor Flav is hosting Olympics celebration

Flavor Flav extended the invite to the team shortly after the video of President Donald Trump's phone call with the U.S. Men' hockey team, which also won gold, made the rounds on social media.

If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite ,,, I’ll host them in Las Vegas. Do some nice dinners and shows and good times. I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real. pic.twitter.com/NhtRJ8UxKE

In the video, Trump is heard telling the men's players he "has to invite the women's team" to Tuesday's State of the Union address, then laughing. The men's team is seen laughing at Trump's remarks.

In a statement, the United States women's hockey team said it turned down the invitation to attend the State of the Union due to logistical issues.

"We are sincerely grateful for the invitation extended to our gold medal-winning U.S. Women's Hockey Team and deeply appreciate the recognition of their extraordinary achievement. Due to the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games, the athletes are unable to participate. They were honored to be included and are grateful for the acknowledgment."

The women who play in the Professional Women’s Hockey League will continue on with their respective seasons this upcoming weekend, with the first game being Thursday when the Montreal Victoire play the New York Sirens. Additionally, those still in college will return to their schools for games beginning on Friday.

Flavor Flav Olympic celebration details

As far as exact details go, there is little out there just yet. Flavor Flav made an official request to the team shortly after his initial idea was floated on social media. The request states that outside of a couple days in mid-March, his schedule is quite flexible.

What does Flavor Flav do for the Olympics?

Flavor Flav's support for female athletes during the Olympics is nothing new. For the 2026 Winter Olympics, he was the official team hype man for both the Bobsled and Skeleton teams.

“I think a lot of other celebrities like myself need to step up to the plate and sponsor some of these Olympic teams, because these Olympians are out there busting their butts to make us look good,” Flav said in Oct. 2025. “After the sport has been played, people have a tendency to forget about the sport until it's played again. I want this sport to stick in your mind after the season is over.”

During the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Flav was also the hype man for the men's and women's Water Polo teams, signing onto a five-year sponsorship deal to assist the teams financially and growing their brands.

It's yet to be seen if more concrete specifics come out about Flavor Flav's celebration, but for now, it seems like it's gearing up to be one heck of a party.
