Why Eagles were called for controversial roughness penalty vs. Broncos

The Philadelphia Eagles had the stop they needed.

But then a penalty flag was thrown.

The Denver Broncos had tossed the ball to RJ Harvey on third-and-2, a right flat completion that Harvey was trying to push forward.

Andrew Mukuba had Harvey wrapped up and brought him the ground.

Zack Baun flew in late and hit Harvey after he was down, and a 15-yard penalty was thrown for unnecessary roughness.

Why Eagles were called for roughness penalty vs. Broncos

Zack Baun's hit was just a little too late.

Harvey was fighting for yardage, so it was a close call.

But in the end, Mukuba had already gotten Harvey to the ground.

And so Baun's hit was deemed late.

But the timing just didn't quite work out.
