Why De'Anthony Melton still isn't playing for Warriors with new injury update

The Golden State Warriors have started 4-1 for the second consecutive season.

Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Jonathan Kuminga have received most of the praise for the Dubs’ hot start, but contributions such as Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody have played their roles well in the Bay.

However, the Warriors haven’t been perfect in the health department, as multiple players have been dealing with injuries.

De’Anthony Melton, the organization’s valuable three-and-D wing, happens to be one of the assets that isn’t setback-free heading into their Thursday night contest against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Why De'Anthony Melton still isn't playing for the Warriors with a new injury update

Melton, who started the 2024-25 season with the Warriors, suffered a torn ACL six games into the year and was traded to the Brooklyn Nets shortly after.

Melton averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists with the Warriors last year, shooting 40.7% from the field and 37.1% from downtown.

Considering Melton’s injury occurred toward the beginning of the sixth NBA campaign, there’s a good chance the SMU product will be back in action soon, and a recent update surrounding his injury status supports that claim.

“Golden State Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton, who underwent surgery to repair a torn left ACL on Dec. 4, 2024, continues to make good progress with his rehabilitation,” the Warriors stated.

“He has intensified his individual and small group on-court workouts and will be integrated into team practice over the next two weeks, including with the Santa Cruz Warriors. He will be re-evaluated again in three weeks.”

Melton appears in good shape as November approaches.
