The Dallas Mavericks have returned from the All-Star Break.
Cooper Flagg, though, isn't exactly back yet.
The Mavs play Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Flagg won't be on the floor.
Neither will Kyrie Irving, who was recently announced out for the rest of the season.
The Mavs' only option at this point is to tank toward the bottom of the standings, but that's not why Flagg is sitting.
Why isn't Cooper Flagg playing tonight?
Cooper Flagg isn't playing Friday night due to an injury sustained in the Mavs' penultimate game before All-Star festivities.
He has a midfoot sprain on his left foot.
Flagg was hurt on Feb. 10 in a loss to the Suns, then sat out their final game before the break against the Lakers.
On Thursday, Jason Kidd told reporters Flagg would miss the game Friday.
Dallas is on a nine-game losing streak, so missing out on Flagg is no fun.
The Mavericks are 19-35 and chasing strong lottery odds.
Flagg is averaging 20.4 points in his rookie season after being the No. 1 overall pick out of Duke.
Potentially, the Mavericks will have another talented youngster to team up with him next season.
