Why Chris Godwin isn't playing for Tampa Bay Buccaneers amid Evans, Egbuka injury worries

In Week 7, it looked like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be in for a nightmare scenario.

Mike Evans, Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin were all on the injury report.

But in the end, Evans and Egbuka are active for Monday Night Football.

It's just Godwin who is missing out.

Why isn't Chris Godwin playing?

Chris Godwin is out with a fibula injury.

It's the second week he has missed with the leg problem.

He also missed time earlier this season with an ankle injury.

When will Chris Godwin return?

Chris Godwin is "week-to-week," according to head coach Todd Bowles.

He has not been an official participant in any practice since his injury in Week 5.

The Bucs didn't place Godwin on Injured Reserve, which would've forced him to miss four games. The lack of IR spot means Godwin could, conceptually, return in Week 8.

The Buccaneers have a Week 9 bye, which could allow more rest for Godwin. Maybe the Bucs are hoping he misses three games, then gets the bye, then returns in Week 10.
