The Toronto Blue Jays announced Charles McAdoo's promotion to the major leagues officially on Thursday afternoon.
They placed Lenyn Sosa on the 10-day Injured List to clear room on the roster.
Despite that, though, McAdoo isn't in the starting lineup on Thursday night when the Blue Jays take on the Baltimore Orioles.
Going against the right-hander Chris Bassitt, the Blue Jays have Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at first base, Ernie Clement at second base, Kazuma Okamoto at third base and George Springer at DH.
Those are the four spots McAdoo could conceptually slot into, and they're all occupied by veterans.

Why isn't Charles McAdoo playing tonight?
This isn't a total shock. The Blue Jays have a relatively established infield and designated hitter.
He came up because of Sosa's injury, and Sosa wasn't an everyday player before getting hurt, anyway.
The Blue Jays won't want McAdoo to sit and do nothing for a couple weeks, so he'll certainly get some chances. They could come at third base sooner rather than later given the massive slump that Okamoto currently finds himself in.
Toronto, though, is probably letting McAdoo take a deep breath Thursday after arriving in the big leagues for the first time. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him in the lineup on Friday, or even in a pinch-hit role against a left-handed reliever on Thursday.
