The WNBA game between the Golden State Valkyries and the Chicago Sky was briefly stopped late in the third quarter on Friday. With Chicago leading 39-37 and holding possession, a green d*ldo was thrown by a fan near the Sky basket. One of the referees quickly halted play while another kicked the object off the floor.

Fans promptly reacted to the scene:

"Why are the Chicago Sky fans so toxic? We demand an investigation," one fan commented.

Why are the Chicago Sky fans so toxic? We demand an investigation.

They're gonna cavity search every guy that goes to a WNBA game from now on.

I think there is one thing we all want to know.

Why neon green?

Nah this league can’t be serious.

I was gonna ask how they sneaking that in but i don’t even wanna know fr 😭

Tuesday's game between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream was interrupted late in the fourth quarter for the same reason. The referees did not stop play immediately, though, and only removed the object during a dead-ball situation.

These incidents are the latest to rock the WNBA over the past week. On Sunday, the league became a punching bag for critics after Phoenix Mercury star Kahleah Copper left the game to fix her torn-off wig. Copper did not signal to her bench; instead, she sprinted to the locker room to address the malfunction.

Golden State Valkyries overcome sloppy shooting to down Chicago Sky

The Golden State Valkyries survived a rough shooting display and sloppy execution to rally for another pulsating win. The Valkyries trailed by four in the final quarter, but a 12-0 run put them in control down the stretch.

Iliana Rupert and Veronica Burton fueled the Valkyries' victory. Rupert hit 3 of 3 from deep, while Burton contributed eight points and four assists in the final 10 minutes.

Golden State improved to 14-13, while the Sky slumped to 7-20.
