Why are NY’s Democratic Socialists in bed with the Chinese Communist Party?

What does it say about the Democratic Socialists of America that they can’t recognize the evil of the Chinese Communist Party — and worse, seem ready to “learn” from it?

“China wants to interface with the DSA,” gushes one national Democratic Socialist leader in documents acquired by Newsweek that link the group’s international Committee to the1 CCP.

That exposé shows the backstory to The Post’s scoop last month revealing monthly DSA “political education” classes pushing straight CCP propaganda.

At least one DSAer took exception back in 2021 to parroting Beijing’s party lines on the CCP’s awful human-rights record, threats to invade Taiwan, abuses in Hong Kong and concentration-camp treatment of Uyghurs, a Muslim minority, venting (per Newsweek): “This isn’t what I signed up for and I imagine it’s not what a majority of members signed up for.”

But the other side plainly won the battle: The Post uncovered current monthly seminars on “modern China and lessons for US socialists” with speakers like Ben Norton, an American studying Marxism in Beijing who actually claims the CCP simply offers “a different way of understanding how democracy works.”

DSA leaders plainly drank the communist lemonade: Earlier last year, a delegation flew to Beijing for a CCP celebration, with New York City DSAer Dee Knight gushing over the “impressive display of ‘unity in multi-polarity’ featuring Russian President Putin and Indian Prime Minister Modi, as well as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.”

None of this directly implicates Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a card-carrying DSA member, but they sure make his comrades look like pathetic dupes of a totalitarian regime, seduced by its pretensions that it’s all about “defeating American imperialism.”

That said, it would be nice for Mamdani, now perhaps the most prominent Muslim official in America, to speak out about China’s treatment of Uyghurs, which sure looks like some kind of genocide, or at least ethnic cleansing.

Communists have been duping socialists all across the globe for over a century now; you’d think some socialists would’ve wised up by now.
