Why Aaron Judge is not playing tonight for Yankees vs. Rockies

Aaron Judge is out of Thursday's lineup for the New York Yankees. 

The AL East club is playing the series finale against the Colorado Rockies. 

Judge hit third and started in right field in each of the first two games, but he will get a chance to rest tonight. 

Why? 

Well, the three-time MVP recently returned from an extended trip to the injured list with a fractured rib. 

Judge is not hurt; the Yankees are simply giving him a day off his feet. 

Before the series, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that the plan was for Judge to sit out at least one game against the Rockies. They are treating his first few games like an extended spring training.

“He won’t play the whole game today, even though he wants to,” Boone said before Tuesday's series opener. “I’m going to be mindful of that, especially this first week. He’ll probably have one of the days this series off. We’ll adjust each night on what we see.”

Last night, the right fielder went 2-for-4 with a strikeout and a run scored. 

Jasson Dominguez will hit third in the order and take over right field duties.
