In the Dan Lanning era, the Oregon Ducks have been on the precipice of becoming a national powerhouse. The program has won over 12 games in consecutive years and produced a pair of Heisman finalists, Bo Nix and Dillon Gabriel.
Last season was a clear step in the right direction, running through the Big Ten regular season. The loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl was demoralizing for Duck fans, but losing to the national champions still early in Lanning's tenure made that pill a bit easier to swallow.
Any chance Oregon had to continue that upward trajectory in 2025 might've suffered a massive blow recently.
According to CBS college football insiders Cameron Salerno and Matt Zenitz, star Ducks' wideout Evan Stewart has suffered a potentially serious injury.
There is concern that Oregon star wide receiver Evan Stewart could miss the 2025 season after suffering a lower-body injury this week, sources confirmed to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz," Salerno and Zenitz wrote.
Once the top-ranked WRs in the 2022 class, the former Texas A&M standout transferred to Oregon last year and put up a decent campaign with the Ducks. With Tez Johnson's departure, Stewart was the name most likely to gobble up that missing target share.
If Stewart is out for most or all of the season, expect the Ducks to lean on Justius Lowe or potential freshman sensation Dakorien Moore.
Athletic specimen tight end Kenyon Sadiq also could see an increased role as a pass catcher.
This pending news could thrust Oregon out of title contention.
