Riverdale star Camila Mendes and multi-hyphenate artist Rudy Mancuso are now engaged. A representative for the actress confirmed to People magazine that Mancuso proposed to Mendes on Friday, October 24.

According to the People Magazine report dated October 25, the proposal came as a complete surprise to Mendes. She had been told she was attending a friend’s birthday celebration, but the night took a sudden romantic turn

“She thought she was going to a birthday party for producing partner Rachel Matthews, but it was a surprise engagement party instead. Rudy proposed to her in front of their family and friends,” an insider told People.

Rudy Mancuso, Mendes’ fiancé, is of Brazilian and Italian descent and has built a multifaceted career as a comedian, musician, actor, and filmmaker. He first gained popularity on the platform Vine before moving to YouTube. His on-screen work included roles in Rim of the World and The Flash. More recently, he made his directorial debut with Músic.

The insider for People Magazine also reported that the festivities following Mancuso and Mendes’ surprise engagement continued late into the night.

“Around 11 p.m., they were still celebrating, so they went to Glen Powell’s tracksuit and tequila-themed birthday party,” the insider added.

The couple’s engagement ring featured a stunning large diamond set on a sleek silver band.

As per E News report dated October 26, at Glen Powell’s birthday bash at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, the celebration continued in full swing. Rudy Mancuso publicly confirmed the engagement to photographers outside the venue before sweetly kissing his fiancée on the cheek, marking one of their first moments as an engaged couple.

Camila Mendes and Rudy Mancuso’s romance first began stirring speculation in late 2022, long before they confirmed it publicly.

The Riverdale actress initially sparked rumors in November 2022 when she shared a series of cozy snapshots from her fall on Instagram.

In her November 8, 2022, post, Camila Mendes shared a carousel post on Instagram, simply captioned “life update,” and including seven photos reflecting snippets of her life.

One of these snapshots featured a muse reflection in a sliding glass door showing Mendes in a bathing suit kissing an unidentified man, widely believed to be Rudy Mancuso.

A few months later, Mendes confirmed she was in a relationship, though she didn’t name Mancuso at the time. Speaking on Dear Media’s Going Mental podcast on January 26, 2023, she shared that she was deeply in love and still in the early glow of the relationship.

“I am still in the honeymoon, but it’s one of those situations where I feel like, and I’m really trying to temper myself here…I don’t wanna like speak above and beyond, but I feel like I’ve known him my whole life, and that’s something I actually have never felt before,” Camila Mendes said

By Valentine’s Day in 2023, the couple made their relationship Instagram official. Camila Mendes shared a heartfelt photo of the two kissing with a caption that read:

“Meu valentine. te amo so much.”

The affectionate message, which translates to “My Valentine. I love you so much,” was a nod to Rudy Mancuso's Brazilian roots and confirmed what fans had long suspected.

The couple’s bond only deepened as they began working together professionally.

Camila Mendes went on to star opposite Mancuso in Música, a 2024 romantic comedy he co-wrote, directed, and headlined. Mancuso later told Us Weekly that Mendes had always been his first choice for the project.

“I knew that I wanted to explore a different side of her…As soon as I met her—I met her for this project—she quite literally ticked every box,” he said.

The two later reflected on their love story in an interview with People Magazine, sharing that their connection began during Mendes’ screen test for Música.

Mendes recalled that even from their very first meeting, there was a spark neither could ignore. She mentioned a “two-minute silent footage” from that day, recording with no audio that, according to her, visibly captured “this exciting energy and this giddiness.”

Rudy Mancuso agreed, noting that “there was chemistry from the moment we met,” which was clearly reflected in their on-screen dynamic.

He admitted that neither of them expected their relationship to evolve so quickly or feel so intense. At the same time, Mendes echoed that sentiment, explaining they simply “understood things about each other” that others might not.

As they grew closer both on and off camera, Mendes explained that filming Música became an extension of their real relationship.

“It worked out because we were getting to know each other off-set, and we got to play out that dynamic in real-time, in front of the camera, as we got to know each other as our characters. And so there was this natural kind of charismatic chemistry,” Camila Mendes explained.
