Who is Jordan Pope? Meet Texas March Madness star leading Longhorns to Sweet 16

Despite playing in the First Four round prior to the Round of 64, the No. 11 Texas Longhorns are moving on to the Sweet Sixteen. They defeated the No. 3 Gonzaga Bulldogs 74-68 at Moda Center in Portland.

One of the main reasons the Longhorns are still dancing is senior guard Jordan Pope. Against the Bulldogs, Pope was tied as Texas's leading scorer with 17 points.

Who is Jordan Pope?

Pope is a 6-foot-1 senior guard for the Texas Longhorns. He previously played for the Oregon State Beavers prior to transferring to join the Longhorns.

On Saturday, he pitched in 17 points, three assists, and one rebound to tie as the Longhorns' leading scorer on the night.

Where is Jordan Pope from?

Pope's hometown is Oakley, Calif., according to the Longhorns' athletics page. He was born in Oakland on June 6, 2003 and attended Prolific Prep before beginning his college career at Oregon State.

During his time at Prolific Prep, he was a three-year letterwinner and became the third all-time leading scorer in program history in just three seasons. In his senior season, he averaged 17.8 PPG and was selected to the All-Grind Session First Team and named the Under-the-Radar Player of the Year.
