The NCAA tournament is full of players who come from basketball families making a name for themselves, and Andrej Stojaković is no different.
The Illinois guard had a strong game in the Fighting Illini's win over VCU, producing 21 points in 26 minutes off the bench as Illinois won 76-55. Stojaković has come off the bench for most of the season, but his performance on Saturday shows how deep Illinois' team is this year.

Who is Andrej Stojaković?
Andrej Stojaković is a junior basketball player for Illinois who has played for three teams in three years. Stojaković started his career at Stanford in 2023-24, then transferred to Cal last season, before transferring again to Illinois.
At every stop, Stojaković has been a key piece of the offense, which includes averaging 17.9 points per game for Cal last season. While Stojaković's numbers dipped a bit this year due to the team's success, he is playing in the NCAA tournament for the first time in his career.
"I think the main reasons were pretty clear to my inner circle as a basketball fit," Stojaković said before the season, via ESPN. "Coach [Brad] Underwood has been very aggressive recruiting me from the start and constantly reiterating how much I'm wanted and needed as a basketball player there. They really believe I'm the missing piece to what they think is a national championship team."
Stojaković is both Serbian and Greek, but he grew up in California as his father was playing in the NBA.
Is Andrej Stojaković related to Peja Stojaković?
Andrej Stojaković is Peja's eldest son, and since Peja played in the NBA during Andrej's childhood, Andrej grew up in the United States. In fact, Andrej attended Jesuit High School in Sacramento, the same city where his dad played parts of eight seasons for the Sacramento Kings.
