In the 2025 regular season, Eric Lauer was a reliable starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. The arrival of Shane Bieber midway through the season forced the Blue Jays to move Lauer to the bullpen.

Lauer, who began the 2025 season on a minor league deal, went on to start 15 games for the Blue Jays and posted a solid 3.77 ERA and a 6-2 record. In the postseason, Lauer became a familiar face to come out of the bullpen, appearing in the ALDS, ALCS, and the World Series.

Eric Lauer's fiancée, Emily Dobbin, was born on September 27, 1995, to Phil and Vicki. She has one sibling, a sister named Molli. Phil, a graduate of architecture from Washington State University, is a Program Superintendent at Hoffman Construction Company. He has been with them since June 1993.

Dobbin's sister, Molli, is a graduate of Interior Design from The Art Institute of Portland. She has been married to Tim Soloviov since August 12, 2020. The couple has a daughter, Juni, born June 24, 2022.

Presently, Molli is Lead Designer of Solo M Interiors, a studio she founded in March 2022. Previously, she worked as an Interior Designer at ZGF Architects in Portland from July 2018 to January 2022. Eric Lauer's fiancée, Emily Dobbin, attended Skyview High School in Vancouver, Washington. In baseball, Dobbin earned two First Team All-League selections and was an All-State in her senior year. She also lettered in soccer and basketball.

Following high school, Dobbin studied at Kent State University, where she studied Integrated Health Science. She graduated in 2018. At KSU, Dobbin was a Division I Athlete in baseball. Notably, she was also a member of the Dean's List.
