Who is Bayley? Why WWE wrestler is announcing Sharks 2025 first-round picks at NHL Draft

4 hours ago 2

The 2025 NHL draft will be held on Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. The NHL is going with a new behind-the-scenes format this year that has fans skeptical.

The NFL and NBA Drafts are seen as bigger deals than the NHL Draft. In an effort to capture some of the same appeal, the NHL is going with a decentralized format, mirroring the other two leagues. In years past, front office executives would be at the draft location, but now they will be at their home stadiums or offices. This means that instead of making the picks themselves, it will be up to either the NHL commissioner or a guest picker, the latter of which is typically done by the NFL starting in the second round.

The Islanders will be on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick. Commissioner Gary Bettman will make the selection while the Islanders faithful watch at a party at the UBS Arena on Friday night. The Sharks will be on the clock second, and they announced on their social media that they are tagging in a huge fan to make their first-round picks on Friday night.
