White Sox predicted to call up 6-foot-10 lefty prospect with 1.29 ERA to MLB

The Chicago White Sox might not be the top contending team in the American League Central, but the start to the 2026 MLB season has been a fun one so far.

While they're 5-9, the production of Munetaka Murakami has been fun, and there are a lot of interesting young players who are reasons to be excited about the future of the team.

Why not add another? Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report is predicting that the White Sox will make a bold April call-up to the Majors with 22-year-old, 6-foot-10 lefty Noah Schultz amid his 1.29 ERA start to the minor league season.

White Sox predicted to call up Noah Schultz this April

"With opponents batting .089 against him through three starts and his walk rate down to an elite 4.3 percent, he is running out of boxes to check in the minors," Reuter writes.

Schultz, who Rueter likened to Randy Johnson for his "whip-like arm slot" and his towering 6-foot-10 frame, is a very fun prospect for the White Sox.

He dominated back in 2024, posting a 2.24 ERA with 115 strikeouts across 88.1 innings. He was only 20 years old and looked to be on the rise. But an injury in 2025 held him back from being a true star prospect.

That doesn't look to be the case now, as he's been dominating once more in the minor leagues through his three starts this year at Triple-A.

Schultz has a 1.29 ERA with a 3-0 record in his three starts, with a 0.43 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 14 innings. The tall lefty has yet to make his debut, but this hot start is leaving little room for the White Sox not to call him up.

Add in that the rotation is shaky, with Shane Smith, their Opening Day starter. being sent down to the minor leagues, Schultz seems like a prime candidate to earn the big-league call-up soon this season.
