A champion will be crowned in college hockey Saturday afternoon. The Denver Pioneers (28-11-3) will face the Wisconsin Badgers (24-12-2), after both came into Thursday's Frozen Four as underdogs, with Wisconsin a nearly 2-1 underdog and Denver +130 per DraftKings.

Despite being a college hockey powerhouse historically, Denver's path was far from easy. It two took periods of overtime to determine a winner against the Michigan Wolverines. Senior defenseman Kent Anderson was the man to finally put the Pioneers ahead with 7:25 to go, scoring just his second goal of the season and his sixth in his four-year career.

The Badgers got off to a quick start against the North Dakota Flying Hawks, with senior Simon Tassy opening the scoring with an off-the-post goal after 12:54. 27 seconds later, sophomore Ryan Botterill was able to squeak one between the North Dakota goalie's legs. The Flying Hawks were able to get within one after pulling their goalie, but the Badgers held strong and earned their first championship appearance since 2010.

The Pioneers will be vying to extend their record to 11 NCAA hockey championships, including their third win in the last six years, while Wisconsin is chasing its first hockey championship win since 2006. Denver has been to 19 Frozen Fours, compared to the Badgers' 12.
