The Chicago White Sox are having a great 2026 season compared to the expectations coming into the season.

At 29-27, the White Sox are only 3.0 games behind the AL Central-leading Cleveland Guardians, and they're firmly in the playoff hunt. In such a position, adding at the trade deadline is very much in play for the White Sox.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller linked the White Sox to a potential trade deadline deal with the Boston Red Sox that would bring an All-Star Game MVP to Chicago as part of a fascinating three-team deal with the Houston Astros.

"But they could always try to put together a three-team deal, maybe something like shipping Duran to the Reds or White Sox, who send enough prospects to Houston to get the Astros to move Isaac Paredes to the Red Sox," Miller writes.

Jarren Duran, the Red Sox outfielder who was the 2024 All-Star Game MVP, would be an interesting addition for the White Sox this season.

Sam Antonacci is in left field, Tristan Peters has center field taken care of, and Rikuu Nishida has found himself in right field with Austin Hays and Everson Pereira hurt.

It's a solid outfield for the White Sox, but adding Duran would give Chicago a veteran who's also shown a very high ceiling before in his MLB career.

Duran is under club control through the 2028 season, so the White Sox would be getting 2.5 seasons out of him if they made this three-team deal.

The 29-year-old outfielder has not been the best this season, posting a .213 batting average, a .665 OPS, and 90 OPS+ in 50 games across 202 at-bats for Boston in 2026.

Compared to his 9.0 bWAR 2024 season, when he led the Majors with 48 doubles and 14 triples, Duran has regressed significantly to this meager production this season.

However, taking a chance on him returning to form might not be a bad idea for the White Sox. He'd get a fresh start, and the White Sox could be getting someone who has incredible potential at a discount amid his struggles recently.
