The Chicago White Sox have become a legitimate playoff contender, and while there's still plenty of time for things to fall apart, this team has what it takes to make the postseason.
They're currently 50-45, leading the American League Central coming out of the All-Star break, with the Cleveland Guardians right in lock-step with them. To separate from the pack, the White Sox need to make a move.
ESPN's Jesse Rogers, coming out of the break, is predicting that the White Sox will be one of the more "aggressive" teams at the MLB trade deadline. It's an exciting prediction, as the White Sox might finally make a push for the postseason.
White Sox predicted to be 'aggressive' trade deadline buyers
"The Chicago White Sox. They have assets and a hunger to return to the playoffs," Rogers writes. "And mostly they have a chance in a wide-open division and league. After this past weekend's draft, they also have so many infielders in their system now, there's nowhere to play them all."
This prediction from Rogers is an exciting one. If it were to come true, what could this "aggressive" team look to add at the deadline?
Combing over the roster, the team's needs are clear: the bullpen and the starting rotation need help badly. Seranthony Dominguez hasn't been awful, but a good closer would be a difference-maker for the White Sox this season.
But the rotation is in dire need of help. Outside of Davis Martin, the White Sox don't really have a postseason-caliber starting pitcher. A good, controllable starter would be an ideal pickup this summer.

Reid Detmers and/or Jose Soriano from the Los Angeles Angels would make a ton of sense. Since this White Sox team likely will be buying with more than just 2026 in mind, rentals like Freddy Peralta or Tarik Skubal won't be at the top of their wish-list.
Rogers highlighted the infield depth within the organization as the area they could trade from, though it's hard to imagine Roch Cholowsky or Caleb Bonemer will be dealt this summer.
Instead, Billy Carlson, Kyle Lodise, William Bergolla Jr., Javier Mogollon, Jeral Perez, Alexander Albertus, Ryan Burrowes, or Anthony DePino could be useful trade chips this summer to land a starting pitcher and/or a back-end reliever.
The White Sox are predicted to be one of the more aggressive teams at the August 3 trade deadline. It's an exciting prediction for White Sox fans, as they might finally see their team make a splash this summer in pursuit of a playoff bid.
