New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck was one of the NHL’s top trade candidates leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. There was an expectation that the veteran center would be moved by the deadline, but the Rangers surprisingly held on to him for the rest of the season.
While Trocheck did not get traded by the Rangers ahead of the deadline, it would be understandable if he does this summer. With the Rangers retooling, they should be looking to move Trocheck for a good return of picks or prospects.
Due to this, let’s look at three potential offseason trade destinations for Trocheck.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild were heavily linked to Trocheck leading up to the deadline, so it would make a lot of sense if they pursued him again in the summer. The Wild are in their Stanley Cup window, and one of their biggest needs is another top-six center. Bringing in Trocheck this summer would provide them with just that.
If the Wild acquired Trocheck, he could slot very nicely as their second-line center, providing two-way versatility. Furthermore, he would be an obvious choice for both the Wild’s power play and penalty kill if successfully acquired.

Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings were another team connected to Trocheck this season, and it is not hard to understand why. The Red Wings could use a long-term upgrade for their second-line center spot, and Trocheck would give them that if acquired.
With the Red Wings on the rise, Trocheck could be a strong fit for their roster. Mainly because he would not only boost their offense, but would also be a good mentor to the team’s younger players.

Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens missed out on Nazem Kadri at the deadline after the Calgary Flames traded him to the Colorado Avalanche. With this, the Canadiens should be on the hunt for a top-six center this offseason, and Trocheck would make a lot of sense as a target for them.
If the Canadiens landed Trocheck, he would be a clear fit on their second line with Alex Newhook and Ivan Demidov. His contract could also appeal to a Canadiens club that is becoming a contender, as he is locked up through the end of the 2028-29 season with a reasonable $5.625 million cap hit.
