Where Winds Meet walkthrough: How to complete The River's Fury quest

The River's Fury is one of the Jianghu Legacy quests in Where Winds Meet that you can find at the Roaring Sands in Kaifeng. Completing this quest will give you Enlightenment points, a Red Fish Sword, Echo Jade, and Ebon Iron items, along with various other rewards.

To unlock The River's Fury quest in Where Winds Meet, interact with the Wayfarer of Roaring Sands at the Fishwood River in Kaifeng.

Go to the Eternal Solitude Hall

If you have the Eternal Solitude Hall Boundary Stone unlocked, you can teleport to the location of the quest in Where Winds Meet. If you don't have it unlocked, then teleport to the Fishwood River or Fallen Invader's Mound Boundary Stone, head to the Eternal Solitude Hall, and enter the building.

Deliver an item to the Elder

In the hall, a small cutscene will play, and after that, interact with the Eccentric Elder, and he will ask you to find an item. These items will be in the hall, and you can use the Wind Sense ability to find them quickly.

The first item, Vial, will be to your left, on a small pedestal. Meanwhile, the second item, the Dusty Spirit Table, will be to your right, beside a fence. You can also obtain a third and secret item, the Double Fish Peace Pendant, if you use the Celestial Seize ability on the Elder.

You can submit any one of these items to the Eccentric Elder, and he will move away from his place. After he moves away, take his place and bow three times to unlock a secret door.

Investigate the underground chamber

When you go near the secret door, the Eccentric Elder will push you inside it, and you will unlock the Flowbreaker Monument Landmark Teleport. Head towards the quest marker to progress with The River's Fury quest in Where Winds Meet. Over here, you will find a small pool area, and a cutscene will play. To proceed with the quest, you must activate a special contraption.

To activate the mechanism, stand on the Stone Slab and wait for the Water Dragonhead to spout water at you. Use the Tai Chi ability before the water hits you to redirect it to a Water Wheel on your right. After activating the mechanism, the water level in the pool will decrease, and you can progress with The River's Fury quest. Try to avoid hitting the red plants, as they will explode upon impact.

Trace the source of the Tremors

After the water level in the pool decreases, you can drop down to head deeper into the underground area. Over here, you will find a small entrance, and after entering, a loud clamor will shake up the chamber. The quest objective will also be updated, as you must now find the source of these tremors.

Keep heading deeper into the cave, and you will come across some steps. To your left, you will find an opening where you must jump down. Over here, you will come across another pool. You must head underwater to cross this area. Keep following the quest marker and avoid touching the red plants, as they will explode.

After navigating through the underwater section, you will come across another room where you must activate another contraption. However, this puzzle is slightly different, as you must use the statue in front of you and place it on the Stone Slab. Next, head to the location where the Water Dragonhead is hitting the water, and then use your Tai Chi ability to redirect it towards the Water Wheel.

Completing this puzzle will increase the water level of the pool, and you can progress with The River's Fury quest.

Search for items to repair the Water Dragonhead

After the water level increases, head towards the gate, and pull the lever beside it to unlock another Water Wheel. On the opposite side, you will see a Boundary Stone and the Water Dragonhead mechanism. However, stepping on the Stone Slab will not activate the Water Dragonhead, and you must repair it before you can use the Contraption.

Navigate towards the quest marker, and once again, head underwater. Keep following the waypoint, and a small cinematic will trigger while you're near the item. After the cinematic, pick up the Hetu Fragment and head towards the location of the Water Dragonhead.

Activate the Water Dragonhead

After obtaining the Hetu Fragment, you can repair the Water Dragonhead. Now, step on the Stone Slab to activate the Water Dragonhead, and then use your Tai Chi ability to redirect the water towards the Water Wheel near the gate.

Doing so will drain all the water in this area, and you can unlock the lowest floor in the underground location. The quest marker will navigate you to a Hero's Tomb. Follow the marker and keep heading deeper inside the cave. You will also unlock the teleport waypoint for Dragon's Mound.

Over here, you will find a Water Dragonhead, a Stone Slab, and an altar, but you cannot interact with them. Head to your left, and keep climbing the small rocks in front of you to reach the upper floor.

On the first floor, you will find a lever and another Water Dragonhead beside a Water Wheel. Use the lever to open the gate, and then step on the Stone Slab (which is in between the Dragonhead and the wheel) to activate the Dragonhead, and then use Tai Chi to redirect the water towards the wheel.

Proceed with the investigation - Drain the water

A small cinematic will play, and after this, you will find a small opening a few metres ahead of the Stone Slab in the previous mechanism. Head towards this entrance, turn left, and you will come across another gate with a Water Wheel beside it. Over here, you will also find a small statue. Pick the statue, and head towards the quest marker to place it on a different Stone Slab.

After doing this, the Water Dragonhead will activate, and now head inside the room where you found the statue. Over here, use Tai Chi to redirect the water towards the Water Wheel. Doing so will unlock the gate, and you will find a third Water Wheel beside the quest marker.

After unlocking the gate, use Tai Chi again to redirect the water towards the third wheel. Completing all of these puzzles will decrease the water level in this area.

Afterwards, you will see a small boot icon on your screen, and you can use the Cloud Steps ability to navigate to the next area quickly. Follow the quest marker and climb the stone wall in this area to come across another Contraption.

Over here, climb the stone stairs, pick up the statue, place it on the Stone Slab, and use Tai Chi to activate the mechanism and open the gate on the ground floor. Drop down and follow the quest objective to progress with the quest. You will find a second Water Wheel mechanism beside a gate at the objective.

Turn left from this wheel, and you will find a small path that will lead you to a lever and a gate. Use the lever to open this gate, and then head inside. Over here, you will find a Stone Slab. Now, use Tai Chi to redirect water towards the first Water Wheel again.

Just beside the Stone Slab, you can find a small statue. Keep the statue on it, and head towards the quest marker. Over here, you will see the second Water Wheel, and now turn right and jump to the cliff in front of you. Use Tai Chi once again to complete its mechanism. Doing so will unlock the gate beside the Water Wheel.

Head towards the objective marker, and you will find a Luoshu Fragment on a table. Then, pull the lever to open the next gate, and then use Cloud Steps to return to the area where you found the Dragon's Mound Boundary Stone and the altar.

Repair the Water Dragonheard at the Altar

After reaching this area, use the Luoshu Fragment to repair the Water Dragonhead statue. Now use the Stone Slab to activate the mechanism and redirect it towards the Water Wheel at the quest marker. After this, a cinematic will play, and the water level in this area will decrease.

The Eccentric Elder will appear once again, and after the water level goes down, interact with the altar at the Stone Slab.

Free A'Yu - Defeat the gigantic fish

The Eccentric Elder will appear once again, and after the water level goes down, interact with the altar at the Stone Slab. After interacting with the altar, pick up the Red Fish Sword and the Nuo Dance Mask. You must equip these items to progress through the quest.

A gigantic fish, Ephemeral Life - Mad, will spawn in front of you, and you must defeat it. The fish will not attack you if you have equipped the items that you obtained from the altar. However, if you haven't equipped them, the fish will attack you. To make the fight easier, it is recommended to equip these items and then fight the fish.

Head to the Final Burial Chamber

After defeating the fish, the objective will be updated, and you must now head to the Final Burial Chamber. A small dialogue will play after you reach the quest marker. When the dialogue completes, you will get an option to return to the entrance with a quest marker, which is just a few metres behind you.

Selecting this option will teleport you inside the Eternal Solitude Hall. Over here, bow to the statue in front of you to trigger a cinematic and to complete The River's Fury quest in Where Winds Meet.
