Javier Aguirre has begun his preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup extremely early as Mexico gear up for an international friendly against Ghana on Friday.
The head coach started his national team camp back in early May, way before the European league season comes to a close. Aguirre threatened a number of domestic-based players with World Cup exclusion if they did not leave their Liga MX clubs and show up for camp, and it worked.
With most European-based players still yet to conclude their club season, this first of three pre-World Cup friendlies will be contested by a Mexico squad largely made up of those playing for domestic clubs.
The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the weekly schedule.
