Two of the WNBA's most notable franchises will go head-to-head this week as the 2025 Commissioner's Cup continues — get ready for Liberty vs. Sky.
Following their 2024 title, the Liberty are still hot. New York has jumped out to an 8-0 start, leading the Eastern Conference decidedly. The Liberty beat the Sky 99-74 in their first meeting on May 22 but will now get the chance to host them in front of a home crowd.
The Sky (2-5) have been slower to find their footing. Chicago has suffered some brutal losses early on, including a 93-58 decision against the Fever. To make matters worse, the Sky will be without Courtney Vandersloot for the remainder of the season, as the veteran point guard tore her ACL in a matchup with Indiana over the weekend.
