Isaac Cruz vs. Nestor Bravo is on Saturday, September 19 in San Diego. The main card starts at 8 p.m. ET and the main event should begin around 11 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
Cruz (28-3-2) beat Rolando Romero in March 2024 to become the WBA super lightweight champion, but he lost it a few months later against Jose Valenzuela. "Pitbull" bounced back and won the interim WBC title. He recently faced Lamont Roach, with the fight ending in a draw.
Back in action, the Mexican with 18 wins via knockout aims to fight the likes of Dalton Smith (or Alberto Puello if he wins when they face off), Ryan Garcia, Gary Antuanne Russell, and more. However, he’s not looking past his opponent.
"Bravo is a very tough fighter who always comes forward and likes to put on a show," said Cruz. "We’re going to be the next chapter of a great boxing rivalry, and I know that this fight has everything it takes to go down in history as one of the great fights in the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry.
"I expect Bravo to come out with an aggressive mindset, but we have our own strategy to counter his style."
Bravo (24-1) is 3-1 in his last four fights. He took out Pedro Campa in January to earn a shot at gold. The Puerto Rican has 17 wins via the power punch.
