England demolished South Africa in the 2nd T20I at Manchester after posting a mammoth total of 304/2 in 20 overs -- the first team to post a 300+ score in T20Is against a Test-playing nation. Phil Salt (141-off-60) and Jos Buttler (83-off-30) set up a 126-run opening partnership, with Harry Brook providing the finishing touch with an unbeaten 41 runs off 21 balls.

Meanwhile, the Proteas began an almost impossible chase in stunning fashion as Aiden Markram raced to 41 off just 20 balls before Adil Rashid dismissed him in the eighth over. Jofra Archer struck twice in the fourth and once in the 12th over, to finish with three wickets overall. While South Africa managed 158 in reply, they were still well short, losing by 146 runs.

With the crucial Ashes tour ahead, England have rested their key players, including Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett. 

Sam Curran returned to the T20I setup in this series and has picked up 3 wickets in the two matches so far after a brilliant performance in the Hundred competition. He also offers a handy value with the bat in the lower middle order.

On the bowling front, Jofra Archer was rested in the first match, keeping his workload in mind. The 30-year-old pacer wreaked havoc on the Proteas' batting lineup, clinching 8 wickets in three ODI matches and also picked up 3 wickets in the 2nd T20I.

With the series decider on the cards, he is expected to retain his place in the playing XI at Nottingham, alongside Luke Wood, who previously represented Nottinghamshire and brings valuable experience of the conditions at Trent Bridge.

Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid were expensive in the last T20I at Manchester and with a batting-friendly surface expected at Nottingham, the team could choose to keep only a single spinner.
