The UCI Road World Championships come to a close this weekend with the marquee events, the elite women's and men's road races.
The women get the first crack at the Montreal course, which includes eight laps of the Mont-Royal circuit. The crowd favorite will be Magdeleine Vallieres, a Quebec native who won the world championships last year in Rwanda, but she'll have to contend with a packed field include 2023 and 2024 winner Lotte Kopecky of Belgium and 2024 Olympics road race gold medalist Kristen Faulkner of the USA.
The men's race Sunday should feature even more fireworks thanks to two-time defending champion Tadej Pogacar's absence following his crash in La Vuelta a España. Remco Evenepoel will look to complete the time trial-road race double after just missing out last year with a second-place finish behind Pogacar on the road course.
A stacked Belgium team led by Evenepoel and Wout van Aert will have plenty to say about the proceedings but Mathieu van der Poel of the Netherlands will look for another win after taking the rainbow jersey in 2023 and France will try to deliver rising superstar Paul Seixas to the podium.

When do UCI Worlds road races start?
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 26 (women), Sunday, Sept. 27 (men)
- Time: 9 a.m. ET
The Women's Elite road race will start Saturday at 9 a.m. ET, with the men starting at the same time Sunday to close out the week-long program in Montreal.
The women's race will run for 180.4km, with the men set to go a grueling 273.7km.
