Some of the best high school basketball teams in the country will face off this week in Fishers, Ind., for the 17th edition of the Chipotle Nationals.
Headlined by the No. 1 seed in the boys' bracket, AZ Compass Prep (Ariz.), the field features the top nine ranked teams in the country and 36 ESPN-ranked prospects. The Dragons are looking to capitalize on their top billing, but they face a gauntlet that includes powerhouses such as Sporting News Top 25 No. 1 Dynamic Prep (Texas), Prolific Prep (Fla.) and Montverde Academy (Fla.), which is chasing an unprecedented ninth national title.
The tournament begins Wednesday with play-in games, including a highly anticipated matchup between No. 9 seed Archbishop Stepinac (N.Y.) and No. 8 Spire Academy (Ohio). On Thursday, fans will be watching closely as Jordan Smith Jr., the Arkansas commit and top-ranked player for Virginia powerhouse Paul VI, attempts to lead the No. 6 seed Panthers on a deep run.
On the girls' side, The St. James Academy (Va.) enters as the No. 1 overall seed, leading a six-team field that features four of the top 10 programs in the nation. The action culminates on Saturday, April 4, with the girls' championship followed by the boys' title game.
