Neither the Chicago Wolves nor the Toronto Marlies were dominant during the AHL regular season, but their resilience has shown during the playoffs, leaving them as the last two standing in pursuit of the Calder Cup.
The Wolves finished sixth in the Western Conference standings, while the Marlies were seventh in the East, but they have found a way to win when it really matters, navigating the postseason in series that mostly went the distance. Of the combined seven series they have survived to get here, five of them went the maximum number of games.
That should set up a competitive Calder Cup Finals where each franchise will look to add to its trophy case. The Wolves have won the Cup three times, most recently in 2022, while the Marlies' lone Cup win in two Finals appearances came in 2018.
