Where Jets rank in strength of schedule for 2025 NFL season

After finishing their 2024 campaign in third place in the AFC East with a 5-13 record, bringing in a whole new coaching staff and front office and making some massive changes to key positions on the roster, the New York Jets have their eyes set on the 2025 season.

At this point, we know who and where the Jets will be playing in the first season under new head coach Aaron Glenn, but we're still waiting to find when the games will take place. The NFL is set to announce the full regular-season schedule May 14, so we'll find out soon.

Still, there's important information to take from who they're playing, including how difficult their schedule is. Earlier this week, NFL analyst Warren Sharp put together the strength of schedules for each team based on projected win totals from Vegas oddsmakers.

With this model, New York has the 16th-toughest schedule, and they're currently projected at 5.5 wins on the year. Their schedule is just ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals and just behind the Los Angeles Chargers.

In 2025, the Jets will play all three AFC East teams (Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins) twice as they do every year. They'll also play the third-place teams from each division in the conference (Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars) and one division from the opposite conference (Dallas Cowboys).

This year, they'll also take on the other AFC North teams (Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens) as well as all four teams in the NFC South (Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

Obviously, factors like lengthy road trips and weird traveling situations could impact the actual difficulty of the schedule, and having a first-year head coach, first-year general manager and new quarterback might not make things easier for the Jets in 2025.

Fortunately, they still have plenty of talented players and other experienced coaches to help them navigate a season that could set them up for great success in the future or put them in position to have a top pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
