The series premiere of Marshals dropped on March 1, adding another bingeable Western drama to the Yellowstone universe.
Luke Grimes reprises his Yellowstone role as ex-Navy SEAL Kayce Dutton, who joins a group of U.S. Marshals as they protect his home state of Montana. Dutton will have to learn to balance family (including son Tate) and the fast-paced and intense task of being a Marshal, even if that means sacrificing his peace of mind.
The series serves as a spin-off and a sequel, and Taylor Sheridan returns as an executive producer. The cast includes Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means in regular roles as Dutton’s teammates.
Marshals is the fourth installment of the franchise series, and unlike 1883 and 1923, is set in the present. But if you’re wondering where the production is filmed, here’s what you need to know.
Marshals Filming Location: Where is the Neo-Western Drama Filmed?
Like the first three seasons of Yellowstone, the sequel is filmed in Utah. Production began last fall in Summit County, adjacent to Utah’s capital Salt Lake City.
For film lovers the location is familiar: it’s where Park City, the former Sundance Film Festival location, is located. The site was approved for Rural Utah Film Incentive last June, along with three other productions across the state. The first three seasons of Yellowstone were also filmed in Summit County, before being moved to Montana in 2020 due to a lack of tax incentives.
“Utah is such a draw for film and television because of its diverse landscapes, fantastic crews, and amazing, knowledgeable film office,” said Adam Morra, the VP of Production Planning and Finance at Paramount.
Sonja Flemming/CBSA popular filming location, Utah currently has multiple ongoing productions this year, including Hulu favorite The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The state is also the site for sci-fi productions like Westworld and Fallout.
