Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson and NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series driver Corey Day took part in the highly anticipated second annual High Limit Racing International race at Perth Motorplex, Australia, on Monday (December 29).
Driving the #1K sprint car, Kyle Larson started sixth and ended up finishing P5 in the 24-driver field at the 3/8-mile clay oval speedway. Whereas Hendrick Motorsports developmental driver Corey Day, who is making a splash in the international series, started third and finished fourth in the 30-lap feature on Day 2 of the event.
Meanwhile, American native Michael Kofoid secured the win in Monday’s High Limit Racing International prelim win at Perth Motorplex. He emerged victorious after beating the fellow Americans Corey Day and Brad Sweet to cross the finish line in P1.
Kofoid led the final 11 laps and crossed the finish line by an impressive margin of 2.420 ahead of Jock Goodyer to take the checkered flag. With the win, he earned prize money of $15,000.
Meanwhile, Jock Goodyer finished runner-up, followed by Dayne Kingshott, opening feature winner Corey Day, and Kyle Larson completed the top five. Larson’s brother-in-law Brad Sweet, Kaiden Manders, Aaron Reutzel, Carson Macedo, and Rico Abreu completed the top 10.
Kubota High Limit Racing has expanded internationally, as the sprint car series is hosting a three-day show in Western Australia from December 28. Tuesday’s main event that pays $110,000 is the highest-paying Sprint Car race in Australian history.
