The Dallas Cowboys made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason by signing Super Bowl champion Von Miller, adding another accomplished veteran to their defense. He remains one of the NFL's most effective pass rushers, and his arrival has generated plenty of excitement among Cowboys fans.

ESPN's Todd Archer shared an update on Miller's first day with the team.

“Von Miller worked off to the side in his 1st day with the Cowboys under the tutelage of pass rush consultant BT Jordan. Miller will go through a ramp-up before he practices fully, which could come next week when the team is back home,” Archer tweeted.

Miller's one-year contract is worth $5.5 million, with the potential to reach $7.5 million through incentives. The deal includes a $3 million signing bonus, a $1.3 million base salary, and $1.2 million in active roster bonuses spread throughout the season.

Miller's incentive structure rewards both individual production and team success, with bonuses tied to sack totals and a playoff appearance. He can earn an additional $500,000 for reaching eight sacks, $1 million for 10 sacks, $1.5 million for 12 sacks, and $2 million if he records 14 sacks, provided the Cowboys make the postseason.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker praised Miller following the signing, calling him the ultimate professional and an outstanding teammate.

“Ultimate professional, phenomenal teammate, and obviously he can still get after the quarterback, play at a high level as an all down player,” Parker said. “We're not really putting a cap on what could be this year. We're going to let that kind of handle itself.”

Miller enters the year tied for ninth on the NFL's all-time sacks list with 138.5 career sacks. The Cowboys hope his leadership, experience, and pass-rushing ability will strengthen a defense that struggled to consistently pressure opposing quarterbacks last season.

Miller is also coming off a productive 2025 campaign with the Washington Commanders. He appeared in all 17 games, finishing the season with nine sacks, 26 total tackles, and six tackles for loss.
