Patriots fan favorite WR predicted to have 90% chance of being traded

The New England Patriots have rebuilt their wide receiver room this offseason by trading for A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles and signing Romeo Doubs as a free agent.

Combined with their strong running back duo and a solid tight end room, Drake Maye's supporting cast is in a good spot. But the WR depth chart is interesting, especially since they could look to trade a veteran away this summer.

Bleacher Report's Moe Moton is predicting that the Patriots will have a 90% chance of trading away fan favorite WR Kayshon Boutte before the start of the 2026 season. While it might sting to see him go, there is reason for making such a move.

Patriots predicted to have a 90% chance of trading Kayshon Boutte

"At 24 and coming off a solid campaign, Boutte should garner interest on the trade block," Moton writes. "Trade probably meter: 9."

Out of a possible 10 score, Moton grades Boutte's probability of a trade at a nine, or roughly a 90% chance of being dealt.

Shipping him out would make a lot of sense for the Patriots, Boutte, and the acquiring team. For Boutte, he's currently buried on the depth chart a bit, and landing with a new team would give him a huge boost heading into free agency next offseason.

That looming free agency, as Boutte is in the last year of his rookie deal, combined with this depth chart status, makes the Patriots likely to consider a Boutte deal.

Shipping him out for a mid-round pick would make a lot of sense. While a fifth-rounder might be a little underwhelming, if the Patriots could get a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, it would be worth it.

A huge reason why is that they have good depth without Boutte behind Brown and Doubs. DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, and even Kyle Williams make up a strong five-man WR room without Boutte.

The 24-year-old WR should have some trade value, and a team like the Houston Texans, which just lost WR Jayden Higgins for the 2026 season, would make perfect sense as a landing spot.
