Night Manager season 2 will come back to TV on January 1, 2026, on BBC and Amazon Prime Video. Fans can look forward to a New Year's Day premiere on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, with an international release on Amazon Prime Video on January 11, 2026.
The plot of Night Manager season 2 takes place in South America this time, with a focus on Colombia. After years of living as "Alex Goodwin" and working quietly for MI6, Jonathan Pine is pulled back into the field. He has to sneak into a new group led by Teddy dos Santos that is illegally moving guns.
Georgi Banks-Davies has directed the production to broaden its scope, and now more than 75% of the story takes place in the context of Colombian drug cartels and gun deals across the globe. With this change, the series moves closer to the roots of John le Carré's original book. At the same time, Night Manager season 2 keeps the smooth, up-to-date feel that was set in the first season.
Night Manager season 2: What to expect and Trailer insights
The new trailer for Night Manager season 2 gives an exciting look at Jonathan Pine's new life. The trailer shows that over the last several years, Pine has been "becoming no one" and working for a little-known MI6 department called "The Night Owls."
But things are peaceful for only a short time until a new threat appears: Teddy dos Santos, a man who says he is the "true disciple" of Richard Roper. The trailer creates a tense mood with a lack of trust. There is talk of British intelligence possibly helping the smugglers Pine is trying to stop.
A global chase with high-stakes investment opportunities and deep-cover operations is in store for viewers. With scenes shot in London, Colombia, Spain, and France, the visual scale is really big. The story promises to look into the "genetically dishonest" side of humans, and Pine becomes a "snake in the garden" again.
With Richard Roper thought to be dead or missing, the power void has made the underworld more unstable and dangerous. Viewers can expect a lot of psychological tricks, love stories, and the unclear sense of right and wrong that made the first season so great in its genre.
The Night Manager Season 1 recap
Sophie Alekan gives Jonathan Pine, a former British soldier turned night manager, sensitive documents in Cairo during the Arab Spring in the high-stakes thriller. The files describe a massive illegal arms deal involving Richard Roper, "the worst man in the world." Pine seeks revenge after Roper's associates murder Sophie after Pine leaks the documents to British intelligence.
Years later, Angela Burr, a determined investigator, hires Pine to overthrow Roper on a budget. Pine fakes being a criminal and stages a "heroic" rescue of Roper's son in Spain to infiltrate his inner circle. Pine becomes part of the villain's lavish lifestyle despite Roper's loyal lieutenant, Major "Corky" Corcoran's suspicions.
Pine eventually fronts Tradepass, Roper's shell company. He also has a risky affair with Roper's girlfriend, Jed Marshall. Pine learns from intelligence that top British and CIA officials like Geoffrey Dromgoole protect Roper for a cut of the profits.
At "The Haven," Roper's Syrian border military compound, tensions peak. Pine must brutally kill Corky after witnessing a chemical weapons and napalm demonstration, nearly revealing his cover.
Cairo hosts the finale. Roper tortures Jed to find a mole, but Pine is ahead. Pine blows up weapon shipments to sabotage the $300 million arms deal using his old hotel connections. Roper loses power when the merchandise is destroyed, and buyers are furious.
In a final twist, Burr defeats corrupt MI6 officials, and Pine gives Roper to vengeful Syrian buyers instead of the police. Pine finally gets Sophie justice as Roper is taken to an uncertain, violent fate. Nine years later, the Roper empire haunts him.
Cast of Night Manager season 2
In Night Manager season 2, Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Jonathan Pine, who has gone from working at a hotel to being an MI6 agent living under the name Alex Goodwin. Olivia Colman is joining him again as the tough Angela Burr, and Douglas Hodge and David Harewood are coming back as Rex Mayhew and Joel Steadman, respectively.
The past's shadows are big when Alistair Petrie comes back as the shamed Sandy Langbourne and Noah Jupe plays a grown-up Danny Roper, who is dealing with his father's history. Diego Calva and Camila Morrone are among the new actors who add to the ensemble. Calva plays a major character in the Colombian underworld, and Morrone's character plays an important role in the new South American story.
