Helmed by The Long Walk director Francis Lawrence, the upcoming dystopian film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2026. The film's screenplay is adapted by Billy Ray from Suzanne Collins' 2025 novel of the same name.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping centers on a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games, and is set 24 years before Katniss Everdeen's story. The story revolves around Haymitch's struggle for survival, his relationship with Lenore Dove Baird, and his growing rebellion against the Capitol, which ultimately leads to his unexpected victory and the genesis of his future as Katniss's cynical mentor.

Joseph Zada features as the young Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, and Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping cast also includes Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, and Ralph Fiennes, among other actors.
