Manchester City's stride in the ongoing summer transfer window keeps getting stronger as Pep Guardiola's side prepares for the upcoming Club World Cup.

Earlier, reports have suggested that Man City have reached an agreement to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri and now, it appears the defender has also moved onto the next steps to confirm the transfer.

Ait-Nouri is said to have completed his medical assessment with Man City and is set to sign a five-year contract soon, according to Sky Sports.

Ait-Nouri is currently on international duty with the Algeria national team, and as per reports, the 24-year-old came to Manchester on Friday evening and completed his formalities to confirm his transfer to City.

Man City reportedly chartered a private jet for Ait-Nouri so that he could rejoin his national team ahead of their international friendly against Sweden.

With the deal almost confirmed, questions surfaced about what shirt number will Ait-Nouri be awarded at the Etihad.

What's next for Man City-bound Rayan Ait-Nouri?

Ait-Nouri will be bestowed with the Number 21 shirt at Man City, according to Algerian journalist Athmane Taibi.

The number 21 jersey at Man City has been worn by Ferran Torres and Sergio Gomez in recent seasons. Premier League legend David Silva has also worn the iconic shirt during his decade-long stint at the Etihad.

Reports have also suggested that Ait-Nouri will be returning to Manchester later this week to join the squad for the Club World Cup. Man City's first match of the competition is slated for June 18, against Wydad AC, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
