Polarizing outfield prospect Spencer Jones was promoted to the Major Leagues by the New York Yankees on Thursday.
Jones will replace the injured Jasson Dominguez, who suffered a low-grade shoulder strain after crashing into the left field wall to make a catch in yesterday's game.
The Yankees placed Dominguez on the 10-day IL today, leaving Jones, a power-hitting slugger who drove in 41 runs with 11 home runs in 33 games in Triple-A, as his replacement on the roster.
An immediate question most Yankees fans want to know is what number newcomers will wear. Francys Romero of BeisbolFR revealed the answer before the 24-year-old's MLB debut.
"Spencer Jones will wear #78, becoming the first Yankee to use it," Romero wrote on X.

What number is on the back of his jersey might be insignificant for Jones, who hopes to make an immediate impact.
However, all it takes is a few breakout games for your number to become a hot commodity at the Yankee Stadium shops and online.
