Nick Kyrgios revealed his support for Jake Paul after the boxer's knockout loss against the former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in a Netflix blockbuster on Friday, December 19. The Australian tennis star tipped the American professional boxer to bounce back from his career's only second knockout loss.
Jake Paul, with a 12-1 record, lasted six rounds against the British boxer in one of the most thrilling bouts in recent history. The actor-turned-boxer had won his last match against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on a unanimous decision and seemed on a backfoot against the two-time heavyweight champion at Miami's Kaseya Center on Friday. Joshua knocked out Paul twice in the fifth round and landed another in the sixth to claim his 29th victory in 33 professional bouts.
After the showdown, Nick Kyrgios, who is an avid boxing follower, praised the boxer for standing against Josua for longer than many had expected. Reacting to an Instagram video of Joshua landing his final punch to Paul, the former World No.13 wrote in a caption:
"Respect Jake Paul, he will be back."

"It wasn't the best performance," Joshua said in post-match interview. "The end goal was to pin Jake Paul down and hurt him. It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found the destination."Nick Kyrgios, who once turned down a boxing challenge by fellow Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic, reacted to a fan's idea of a potential boxing fight against Jannik Sinner in 2024.
When Nick Kyrgios reacted to possible boxing bout with Jannik Sinner
Nick Kyrgios refused to entertain a fan's hilarious proposition for a boxing match against the then World No. 1 Jannik Sinner at the end of the 2024 season.
The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up was critical of the Italian after the latter tested positive for the banned substance Clostebol during the Indian Wells tournament. Kyrgios took a dig at Sinner after the latter avoided suspension, and revealed his desire to face the current No. 2 at the Australian Open. His criticism of the Italian star triggered several hilarious reactions from the fans, with one particularly generating an animated picture of two players facing each other in full boxing gear.
Reacting to a fan's post on X, the current World No. 673 wrote:
"Hahaha in the ring? What y’all smoking 😂😭"Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios is currently in India for the 2025 World Tennis League, a not-ATP exhibition event, and is next set to appear in a highly anticipated Battle of Sexes match against the World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in Dubai on December 28.
