What happened to Paige Bueckers? Why Wings star will miss at least next two games for Dallas

5 hours ago 1

The Wings will be without their star guard for at least the next few games, as Rookie of the Year favorite Paige Bueckers will be sidelined for at least the next two contests after being placed in the league's concussion protocol Friday. She'll be re-evaluated next week.

Bueckers was the first overall pick in this year's draft after a stellar career at UConn. She dealt with injuries during her time with the Huskies, and it followed her to the pros. Fortunately, this injury doesn't seem major, but Bueckers will still be forced to miss at least two games.

Here's what happened to Bueckers and why she will be out at least the next two games.

Paige Bueckers injury update

Bueckers was placed in the league's concussion protocol. This means that she will miss two games minimum before being re-evaluated next week. She could miss more games depending on whether she's still dealing with symptoms after her evaluation.

It is unclear exactly when the star guard suffered the injury, but Wings beat reporter Grant Afseth thinks it was when Bueckers' head hit the floor hard against the Sky on Thursday.
