Jordan Lynch's name came to the mind of many intense college football fans over the weekend.
Diego Pavia slid out of the NFL Draft, going undrafted after being a Heisman finalist for Vanderbilt. He only was able to nab a rookie minicamp contract with the Baltimore Ravens.
It reminded some of the Northern Illinois QB Lynch, who himself had been a Heisman finalist.
And at least as far as the NFL is concerned, Pavia won't find a good precedent here.

What happened to Jordan Lynch?
Lynch did get a brief chance in the NFL after his college career was over.
The Chicago Bears brought him aboard in the offseason, but he never made it near the regular season roster in 2014 -- they actually tried to make him a running back.
From there, he spent two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League before calling it a career.
Lynch transitioned into coaching, first joining the staff back at NIU and then becoming the head coach at Mount Carmel High School in Illinois. He has coached his team to five state championships.
He was also inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in January.
Lynch was an astounding player who led NIU to consecutive 12-2 records in his final two college seasons.
In 2012, he threw for 3,138 yards and 25 touchdowns while running for 1,815 yards and 19 TDs.
In 2013, it was 2,892 yards passing with 24 scores along with 1,920 yards rushing with 23 more touchdowns.
He had an exceptional career, even if it didn't include a significant NFL chapter.
