Protecting home court is essential for any team to win in the NBA Playoffs. This is exactly what the Toronto Raptors did in Game 4 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Scottie Barnes led the way and Collin Murray-Boyles was the much-needed spark that they needed. In fact, these two notched historic feats against the James Harden-led squad.
Raptors make NBA Playoffs history vs. Cavs in Game 4
To start off, Collin Murray-Boyles was put on the bench but played a great 27 minutes for the Raptors. He put up 15 points on 45% shooting from the field while dropping three assists. Defensively, he tortured the Cavs by grabbing 10 rebounds and two steals.
When the numbers are crunched, Murray-Boyles became the first rookie in Raptors history to log a 15-point, 10-rebound and two-steal game in the NBA Playoffs, per StatMuse.
Scottie Barnes also put up huge numbers to defeat the Cavs. He scored 23 points knocking down 11 of his 14 free throw attempts and going 40% from the field. Barnes ran the Raptors offense well and dropped six assists along with those scoring numbers. He was also able to grab nine rebounds, get three blocks, and notch a steal.
Despite five Raptors scoring 10 or more points against the Cavs in Game 4 of this NBA Playoffs series, they were still highly inefficient. Actually, the Raptors only shot 32% from the field and 13.3% from three-point range. This means that notched the worst field field goal percentage that resulted in an NBA Playoffs win since the 1976 merger with the ABA.
Tying up the series with two wins each is a big feat but it does not stop there. Barnes and Murray-Boyles now need to win in the Cavs homecourt if they want to advance further in the NBA Playoffs.
