Jayden Daniels' playoff debut wasn't without its obstacles.
The Commanders standout has enjoyed a charmed start to life in the NFL, securing a postseason berth for his long-suffering franchise while authoring up one of the most impressive rookie campaigns in recent memory.
All that amounted to a first-round matchup against the NFC South champions, the Buccaneers. Playoff football is different, played in atmospheres far more tense and imposing than their regular season counterparts. Daniels experienced that distinction firsthand, incurring a scratch to the cheek for his troubles.

What happened to Jayden Daniels?
Daniels appeared to sustain his cut around the 12-minute mark of the second quarter. While attempting to find the corner on Kliff Kingsbury's patented read option, Daniels was leveled, colliding with cornerback Zyon McCollum as he pulled toward the sidelines.

— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) January 13, 2025Washington's cornermen went to work, wiping away the streaks of scarlet that poured down his cheek. Within minutes, Daniels emerged, returning to the ring gridiron for more action.
Daniels proceeded to lead the Commanders into the end zone, capping off Washington's 17-play, 92-yard odyssey with a dart to Dyami Brown.
Daniels' wound continued to linger. So, after giving Washington the lead, he got some work done. The Commanders' medical staff sanitized the wound and filled it with skin glue. His laceration was soon cloaked in a bandage, making him look less like a Pro Bowl QB and more like a certain St. Louis-based rapper.
