Caleb Williams expressed pride in the Chicago Bears following their overtime postseason loss, while also reflecting on what the playoff run meant to both the team and the city.
Williams delivered a moment of magic Sunday night at Soldier Field, extending the divisional-round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams with a stunning touchdown pass to force overtime. Facing intense pressure from the Rams’ pass rush, Williams scrambled backward nearly 30 yards before firing a throw to Cole Kmet near the corner of the end zone.
After the game, Williams explained what he saw on the play. He said he had to run backwards because it felt like the only safe option. Then, he looked up.
“I saw Cole one-on-one over there and understanding that 14 (Cobie Durant) was on him and he’s a little bit smaller guy,” Williams said. “I just wanted to give him my best shot.”
Williams’ night ultimately ended with an interception in overtime, his final pass of the season, before the Rams drove down the field and kicked the game-winning field goal.

Speaking thoughtfully in his postgame comments, Williams said he viewed the season as a positive experience overall.
“It was awesome,” he said. “One of my more fun years of being able to play football between the growth, the hard times, the good times. Just being able to be in the locker room with the guys that we had. I’m excited, I’m proud of our guys. I appreciate the city of Chicago. I appreciate the Chicago Bears.”
