What Chargers win vs. Cowboys means for AFC west, wild-card standings

1 hour ago 2

The Los Angeles Chargers picked up their 11th win of the 2025 season on Sunday, defeating the Dallas Cowboys on the road.

Los Angeles has been on fire lately. Jim Harbaugh's squad has won four games in a row and seven of its last eight after starting 4-3.

Though the Chargers have been one of the best teams in football over the last two months, they are still fighting for the AFC West and the playoff positioning heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.

AFC West standings

1. Denver Broncos (12-2, will play Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16)

2. Los Angeles Chargers (11-4)

3. Kansas City Chiefs (6-9)

4. Las Vegas Raiders (2-12, will play Houston Texans in Week 16)

The Broncos will stay in first place in the AFC West, no matter the result of their game with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. However, Los Angeles is still alive in the division race and has the head-to-head tiebreaker advantage over Denver due to a Week 3 win.

The Chargers and Broncos will meet once again in Week 18, and that game could decide the AFC West winner, depending on how the rest of December transpires. However, Denver controls its destiny in the division, so Los Angeles will need some help.

AFC playoff picture

With their win on Sunday, the Chargers are basically a lock to make the playoffs. Los Angeles can officially clinch a spot in the postseason in Week 16 if the Houston Texans or Indianapolis Colts lose. Houston plays the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, while Indianapolis will square off against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.

When it comes to seeding, the Chargers remain in the No.5 spot heading into Week 17.
