After finally returning a mostly clean bill of health, the Minnesota Timberwolves returned to the floor at home against the San Antonio Spurs. But despite this newfound health, the Spurs still closed out a 115-108 victory.
For San Antonio, Victor Wembanyama delivered another extraterrestrial performance. After setting a playoff blocks record in Game 1, Wembanyama scored 39 points in Game 4 with 15 rebounds and 5 blocks to boot. Stephon Castle helped in the backcourt, dropping 13 points and dishing out 12 assists.
For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards played on a minutes restriction in the first two games. This restriction was no more in Game 3, as Edwards' minutes jumped from 25 to 41. He scored 32 points with 14 rebounds and 6 assists, leading the team in each of these categories.
With the Spurs now leading the series 2-1, Minnesota will need to improve its defense, particularly in transition. The Spurs managed 15 points off turnovers and 13 fast break points in Game 3.
For San Antonio to take a 3-1 lead, it will need to take better control on the boards. The Timberwolves had 15 offensive rebounds while the Spurs had just eight.
